Jim Verraros
A multitalented trailblazer and enduring LGBTQ+ icon, Jim Verraros first became a household name as a fan favorite on the inaugural season of American Idol. His Top 10 run—including a memorable audition sung in American Sign Language in tribute to his Deaf parents—captured millions, but his greatest impact came shortly after when he came out publicly during the show’s 2002 tour, making history as the first former Idol contestant to do so. His courage earned him a place on Out magazine’s influential Out 100 list.
Building on that platform, Jim released the critically acclaimed album Rollercoaster, scored dance-chart hits, and made a celebrated film debut in the groundbreaking queer cult classic Eating Out. After a hiatus, he returned triumphantly in 2023 with club anthems “Take My Bow” and “Pyramid,” both Top 10 hits on the U.K. dance charts praised as Pride-ready staples. In 2025, Jim ushered in a bold new era with his EP Explicit, reaffirming his status as a fearless artist.
